Ups and Downs

(Eastman Johnson, "The Girl I Left Behind Me")

"Jesus is holding up your name on the palms of His hands. The Holy Spirit simply awaits your act of trust, so He may whisper in your heart the echo of the answer from the throne of God, 'It is done.'" -A.B. Simpson

Well, I must be honest. Life has been up and down emotionally for the last few months. I would have a few great days, where I love life and everything is beautiful, and then... not so much. I got hit a few times with some pretty bad depression. It's always scary, because I don't know how far I will sink, or when I'll come back up for air again.

In those times, I keep doing what I know to do. Keep taking the meds, keep clinging to God, keep talking & not isolating, etc. I hate that I can do all the right things and still find myself whipped around like a paper doll in the storm. But praise God, He is faithful! Even when I feel myself drowning, I know He is my anchor, and I cling all the harder to Him.

Today, the Lord reminded me of Isaiah 30:18-9
"The Lord longs to be gracious to you; he rises to show you compassion. For the Lord is a God of justice. Blessed are all those who wait for him! O people... you will weep no more. How gracious he will be when you cry for help! As soon as he hears, he will answer you."

Yesterday, God reminded me of Daniel 9:23, 10:12
"As soon as you began to pray, an answer was given... Since the first day that you set your mind to gain understanding and to humble yourself before your God, your words were heard, and I have come in response to them."

It's been like this for months. As I've cried out to God for direction, strength, peace, anything- He has comforted and answered me in His Word and through the words of others. So my encouragement to you is this- cry out to God for whatever it is that you need. He will answer. It may not be the answer you're wanting, or He may just say to wait for His timing, but He is always faithful to respond.

That is so sad to be bogged down with depression. You're a very courageous lady. Hopefully, someday someone can find the answer to help all the people suffering through this. I wish you the best always!
